Art in the Park Workshops

Take Your Creativity Outdoors!

Step into the Young Artists Workshop inflatable art tent (30'L x 20'W x 13'H) for a one-of-a-kind creative experience! These outdoor workshops are hosted at local parks and designed for kids who love to explore, imagine, and make art under the open sky.


Each 5-hour workshop features themed art projects, playful art games, and time to connect with other young creatives—all with full supervision, snacks, and easy access to restrooms and playground fun.

Whether you're painting patterns of the Pacific or dreaming up wild new worlds, our Art in the Park Workshops offer a vibrant mix of education, expression, and sunshine-soaked creativity.

Hawaiian Tapa Cloth Workshop

June 28th, 2025, 9am - 2pm

Painted Patterns of the Pacific: Tapa Cloth Inspired Art

Where: La Mesita Park, La Mesa, CA  Capacity: 15 students


Join us under the Young Artists big art tent as we dive into the rich tradition of Hawaiian kapa (tapa) cloth—a hand-crafted textile made from mulberry tree bark, adorned with symbolic patterns that tell stories of family, nature, and spirit.


In this hands-on workshop, young artists will create their own tapa-inspired art pieces using watercolor, repetition, and earthy tones on textured paper that mimics the look and feel of traditional bark cloth.

What Artists Will Experience

Students will learn about the cultural significance of Hawaiian kapa, explore natural pattern-making and symbolic design, and express their own story or identity through stylized tapa-inspired artwork.


  • Brief intro into Hawaiian kapa and Polynesian art traditions
  • Design symbols that represent nature, movement, family, or self
  • Use pattern, repetition, and symmetry to build their artwork
  • Create a tapa-inspired design on richly textured “bark-like” paper
  • Personalize and mount their final piece for display or gift

Stained Glass Nature Art Workshop

July 19th, 2025, 9am - 2pm

Where: La Mesita Park, La Mesa, CA  Capacity: 15 students


We'll take inspiration from the beauty of nature and the magic of stained glass! In this hands-on art workshop, young artists will create vibrant, light-catching artworks that mimic the look of real stained glass using a mix of transparent surfaces, bold outlines, and bright colors. 

What Artists Will Experience

In this magical outdoor workshop, students will create nature-inspired “stained glass” artworks using paint pens and other easy-to-use materials on transparent surfaces. They’ll sketch designs featuring leaves, flowers, butterflies, and other natural wonders—then bring them to life with bold lines and vibrant color. Note: We will not be using real glass for obvious safety reasons.
